Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem in Talks to Star in Untitled Thriller

Cannes, France — Actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are in talks to star in Iranian’s director Asghar Farhadi upcoming untitled Spanish-language film.  Cruz and Bardem are set to play the lead roles and whose cast will include Spanish and American actors.

Farhadi who won the foreign-language Academy Award and Golden Globe for Separation in 2012, just recently presented his new film The Salesman at Cannes, winning two awards, for best screenplay and best actor. The Salesman revolves around a teacher and his wife, who are attacked at their home in Tehran.

As Farhadi is re-writing the script and will pay a visit to Spain to do some location scouting with plans to begin production next year in the summer or early fall  shooting

The plot is a psychological thriller that revolves around a family of winemakers living in rural Spain.

El Deseo, the film producer company owned by Spanish film producers Agustin and Pedro Almodóvar and Memento Films are on board to produce the film in development.

“The film could offer cultural and industrial crossover which would be highly valuable in the current times.” said Agustin Almodovar
