Pamela Silva Guests On “The View” and Just Might Be The Keeper

Pamela SilvaEmmy award-winning co-anchor of Univision’s top-rated newsmagazine Primer Impacto (First Impact), made her guest appearance on ABC’s The View on Tuesday, May 21st, and you heard it hear first.  This one is the keeper.

Silva has six — not one or two — six Emmy awards.  She is smart, beautiful and has a very slight accent that makes her oh so appealing to the gringos.

As she confidently walked onto set of The View, it felt like she was home.  Elizabeth Hasselbeck who?

Now, is she the “Conservative Latina” The View is rumored to be looking to bring on board?  Who knows?  However, there was not hint of any political leaning during Silva’s this first outing on The View.

One thing for sure Silva did not shy away from conveying her pride about being a Latina, and was only very happy to answer the slew of questions posed by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepard, and Barbara Walters about the misconception of Latinos in America.  Silva talked about the “hurtful misconceptions about Latinos” and chimed in about immigration.

When Walters asked Silva about the fact that 1 in every 6 Americans are Latino, Silva replied “We are taking over” to which Walters countered “You can start by taking over this show”.  If that is not a sign that Barbara has given Silva the seal of approval…I don’t know what is.

Now let’s talk about the business sense this makes.  Univision, the network Silva works for, and ABC (Disney) are already in business together.  These mega media giants announced last year a co-venture for a network targeting English-language speaking Latinos.  The network will be called Fusion.  Would it not make business sense that the cross promotion of their talents already be in play before the official launch slated for the fall of 2013?

Let’s take it a step further.  It’s not a far-fetched idea that The View could possibly also have a programming slot on Fusion (the network is slated to be a news and lifestyle network), while continuing it airing on ABC?  It’s just makes good business sense.

You have to start thinking like the big network execs.  You don’t think Disney/ABC hasn’t thought about how to best tap the $1.3 trillion Latino consumer market?

This is a win-win for all involved.  No matter what Silva’s political leaning may be, she is a fine representative of the beauty and pride of what an American Latina is.  As she defined herself to the ladies of The View,  she is 200% — 100% Latina and 100% American.

Now that is a “View” I can get used to watching
