Los Angeles – Telemundo 52-KVEA newscasts delivered impressive year-to-year growth in key demos during the May sweeps period, according to Nielsen. Both editions of Noticiero Telemundo 52 (Monday-Friday at 6pm and 11pm) experienced increased viewership vs. the same time period in May 2012 sweeps across key demos:

  1. ·         Noticiero Telemundo 52 at 6pm delivered double digit gains during its time period, up +20% in adults 25-54, +75% among women 25-54, and +14% in adults 35+.

  2. ·         Noticiero Telemundo 52 at 11pm experienced double and triple digit growth during its time period, up +20% among total viewers, +100% among adults 18-34, +33% among adults 18-49 and +14% in adults 25-54. In addition, “Noticiero Telemundo 52” at 11pm was the only Spanish-language late news program to deliver year-to-year growth across key demos during the same time period.

The award-winning newscasts deliver breaking news and the latest information on issues affecting the Hispanic community in Southern California. Some of the stories featured during the May sweeps period included “Meningitis sin fronteras” (Meningitis without borders) an investigation on the recent cases of Meningitis in the Tijuana border and the possibility of a health crisis in the area; “Los doblemente invisibles” (The doubly invisibles) an in-depth series that delves into the lives of children who were born in Mexico, but were never registered, and were brought illegally to the US by their parents; and “¿Aguas turbias o aguas claras?”(Murky or clear waters?) a special assignment that investigates the quality of water in Maywood where residents have been complaining for years that the water they receive its contaminated.
