Netflix Spoofs Televisia’s Decision to Remove Telenovelas

Mexico City, Mexico – Mexican network Televisa recently announced its separation from Netflix.  Televisa’s OTT platform Blim, which launched this year in March, will now exclusively stream Televisa’s own telenovela content.  In 2014, Televisa’s Rebelde and Teresa were two of the most watched soap operas streamed on Netflix, according to Kari Pérez, public relations specialist at Netflix Latinoamerica.  Netflix was seemingly un-concerned with losing the content.

After Televisa’s official announcement to remove all its telenovela’s from Netflix, the global streaming empire released a spoof on the departure with a tag line that says: “It’s hard to say good bye. Many will miss you… others not so much.” The video was enthusiastically applauded by thousands of Mexican viewers on social media.
