Grammy nominated Singer Will Headline “Latina’s Who Rock” Closing Bash
Miami, FL – Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/producer, Sheila E., will be honored with the Latinovator Award at Hispanicize 2014. In addition to being honored with a Latinovator Award, Sheila E. will headline the “Latinas Who Rock” closing bash. Hispanicize 2014, the fifth annual Latino trends event, will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami, April 1-4.
The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievements are remarkable or inspirational.
A musical legend, Sheila E has given of her talent with music like The Glamorous Life and Love Bizarre, plus her pivotal work with Ringo Starr, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Beyoncé, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and George Duke, and heavy involvement in Elevate Hope Foundation, Sheila’s non-profit focusing on the needs of victims of child abuse and promoting music and arts education.
An Emmy nominee, Sheila E. picked up the drumsticks at the age of three, while watching her legendary father, percussionist Pete Escovedo rehearse. Sheila has since established herself as one of the most talented percussionist/drummers and performers in the world. 2014 marks her 40th year in the entertainment business, a milestone celebrated by the release of hew new CD, Icon, on March 25th.

In recent years, she has served as musical director for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé’ Knowles, and Prince. Her producing and arranging talents have been showcased on the Latin Grammy Awards, Summer Olympics, ALMA’s, and the Image Awards. She also performed on the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors as part of the tribute to honoree Santana.
