mun2 New Original Programming For 2012-2013

Taking their programming cues from their audience has proven wise

Universal City, CA – If there is one thing you can always count on at mun2, the award-winning bi-cultural cable network catering to young Latinos, is their ability to tap into what their audiences want to see and turn it into ratings hits. According to Nielsen, mun2 is at the top of the heap when it comes to television programming for young adult Latinos 18-34. At the recent unveiling of its 2012-2013 television programming we got a sense of why. Young, vibrant and unabashedly Latino is the mun2 tagline as well as the description for their new shows: new reality shows Jenni Rivera Presents The Chiquis Project, and Larrymania, car culture lifestyle show Dub Latino, and the action-packed telenovela, Ojo Por Ojo.

Although the mun2 audience skews younger, one of their top rated shows, I Love Jenni about music star/entreprenuer (and forty-something) Jenny Rivera, has spun off her daughter’s reality show Jenni Rivera Presents: The Chiquis Project. Audiences who have gotten to know her daughter Chiquis will now get to follow her own reality as she moves out out of her mother’s house and into her own life as she starts her own business — and with her ever evolving and uniquely American way of life — all in front of a camera.

Larrymania is a docu-reality starring Larry Hernandez (who?). Well you might not know who he is but tell that to his over a million fans on Facebook and 70,000 followers on Twitter.  But if you must know, Hernandez is a Regional Mexican music mega starstar and you might be time to a peek and find out why he has such a following.

The Lowriding culture started with Latinos in East L.A. and spread internationally. So why not a show about the car culture? DUB Latino, is a magazine show focused on the car-culture passion and celebrity lifestyles of the hottest names in Latino entertainment.  Finally, mun2 would not neglect their female audiences (and the males who don’t admit but we know they watch as well), Ojo Por Ojo the telenovela that puts an accent mark on a very modern and urban Romeo and Juliet-themed storyline.
