Michelle C. Bonilla’s Short Film “Slip Away” Out on DVD

Los Angeles, CA – New to DVD this month is Slip Away, the award winning, critically acclaimed short film by Alma award-winning actress, Michelle C. Bonilla.

Featuring a special ‘Behind the Scenes Photo Gallery’, an optional commentary of the photos by Bonilla, and the official trailer, the DVD will be exclusively available for purchase on the official website at www.slipawaythemovie.com for a retail price of $14.99.

Bonilla has successfully been making her acting marks in both mainstream films and television shows with a massive acting resume including ER, Star Trek Enterprise, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, The Closer, CSI: Miami and Saving Grace, among others

Her debut short film Slip Away – winner of 2011 Bronze Palm Award – Mexico International Film Festival and the 2011 Best Dramatic Short – Fort Worth Gay and Lesbian Film Festival puts her not only in front of the camera but also behind it as producer and writer.

Inspired by true events, Bonilla’s story, while focusing on the same-sex relationship of two main protagonists, Selena and Jane, tragically caught in the dramatic harrowing web of addiction, goes beyond the simple obvious “lesbian-themed” stereotypical stigma crossing over to mainstream to offer the universal message of an amazing victory over incredibly difficult odds that redefines the concept of hope and new beginnings.

Selena (Lauren Birriel) and Jane (Michelle C. Bonilla) are caught in a web of desire, deception, and untruths. Slip Away tells the gripping story of love, addiction, self-discovery and what is lost and gained in its wake.

T.M. Scorzafava (Gillery’s Little Secret, In Twilight’s Shadow) directs an outstanding cast that includes Thea Gill (Queer as Folk), Hal Sparks (Lab Rats, Queer as Folk), April Grace (I Am Legend, Magnolia), and Wilson Cruz (He’s Just Not That Into You), along with Birriel and Bonilla in a film that poses the question – How far does one go before you simply Slip Away?

Teaming up with the best of what the LGBT entertainment crop has to offer on and off camera, Bonilla utilized her artistic medium as a platform to allow actors to play roles different than what Hollywood usually typecast them in. In addition, Bonilla committed to give back on a social/communal level to women getting Slip Away involved with “The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Project” (LAWTP) – an institution committed to helping women in the arts – and rallying the support of The Lesbian News Magazine as media sponsor.

Bonilla is currently working on her next project dubbed Failing Upwards – a new comedy web series, about unemployment and the hilarity of trying to find a job – even if you have to lie to get one. Created by Bonilla and Matt Crabtree (Bones, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy, Greek, Will & Grace), and written with Deidra Edwards Deidra Edwards (Star of the Award Winning film Disfigured) and Pip Lilly (Butch Camp, Frank TV, National Lampoon’s Lemmings), the show follows a group of four unlikely friends who find themselves going through unemployment, TOGETHER!

“Unemployment is a very timely subject for people in America. Many people have experienced unemployment and/or are currently experiencing it. This is our comedic take on that experience…because if you don’t laugh, you have to cry,” says Bonilla about her upcoming web series.
