Mia Maestro Lands Lead Role in Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Strain” on FX

FX, who already has Demian Bichir headlining their new series The Bridge, adds two more high profile Latinos to their drama programming slate.  Mia Maestro has been cast in the drama The Strain from filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and respected showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Nash Bridges).

Adapted from del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s vampire novel of the same name, the show also stars Corey Stoll.  The drama is said to have been picked up for a 13 episode initial run.  Maestro will play the brilliant biochemist Dr Nora Martinez whose works closely with Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City and with whom Martinez has an affair.

Mia Maestros was last seen on the big screen as Carmen in the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.  This marks her return to television since her stint on Alias.  She is also currently starring in the indie comedy film Some Girls.

Executive producing are del toro and Cuse, who will serve as the showrunner.  Also on board as executive producers are Hogan and Gary Ungar and produced by FX Productions.

Maestro is repped by ICM Partners and 3 Arts.
