Los Angeles, CA – One of America’s most renowned neurosurgeons, Dr. Alfredo Quiñones Hinojosa’s life story is headed to the big screen with Disney producing and Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B sharing production duties. The life of the internationally renowned neurosurgeon, author, and researcher, who came to the U.S. as an undocumented immigrant from Mexico and overcame several adversities, to become respected member of the medical profession.
In the late 1980s at the age of 9, Alfredo Quiñones came to the United States for the first time, and began working in tomatoes fields in California. After saving enough money, he took English classes and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of California at Berkeley before going on to Harvard Medical School, making the transformation from his impoverished childhood in Mexico, to being one of the most admirable doctors in the United States. Dr. Hinojosa is currently the Director of the Brain Tumor Surgery Program at John Hopkins Hospital. In 2008, Dr. Q was named as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics.
As a playwright Matt Lopez wrote the critically acclaimed The Newsroom, The Whipping Man. In 2014 Lopez signed a two-year overall development deal at Universal Television. He wrote the pilot for Gothica and now he has has been chosen to write the amazing and inspirational story of ‘Dr.Q’,
Lopez also wrote two Disney features The Race to Witch Mountain and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Previously he worked with Plan B on an adaptation of Your Face Tomorrow. Lopez is repped by CAA.
