Picture Machine and Tom Sawyer Entertainment Execs Form New Los Angeles-Based Management and Production Company
Picture Machine principals Kevin Mann, Matthew Perniciaro and Mauricio Betancur are teaming with Jesse Hara and Rachel Miller of Tom Sawyer Entertainment to form Haven Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based management and production company.
Overseeing production for all of Haven’s projects are Mann and Perniciaro, while Miller and Hara will oversee the management division. Spearing all branding and merchandising business ventures is Betancur.
Manager Carlos Bobadilla, who brings to the table his impressive roster of clients and will focus on expanding the company’s presence overseas, joins the team as head of international affairs. Currently on the roster are Dennis Leoni (Los Americans, Resurrection Blvd.), and Gabriela Tagliavini (Without Men), among others.

Using the internal development and production fund that Haven will use to acquire properties will also provide financing and finishing funds for independent projects. Haven aims to expand into talent representation in the near future, while starting with a primary focus on literary representation.
“This is a step that we have discussed for quite some time,” said Perniciaro. “We are taking full advantage of this opportunity to create a production and management company that focuses on developing industry-changing and groundbreaking content from start to finish.”
“Jesse and I are thrilled to be partnering with such a smart and creative team who share our passion for fulfilling client needs, forging enduring relationships and delivering innovative work,” added Miller.
In current production at Haven include a Milius, a documentary from directors Zak Knutson and Joey Figueroa about the life of filmmaker John Milius, as well as Dylan Narang’s indie I Want You I Need, which shoots this fall. Films in pre-production include Susana Fogel’s It Is What It Is and Kyle Wilamowski’s Grass Stains, which is currently casting.
After the successful premiere of the doc A Band Called Death at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Haven is now in final negotiations to secure distribution for the film in 2013. Haven’s other upcoming films include The Cold Light of Day, the Henry Cavill-Bruce Willis thriller, which Summit/Lionsgate will release on September 7th, as well as Josh Radnor’s Sundance film Liberal Arts, which IFC Films opens on September 14th.
In addition to film, Have is pushing television and branded digital content and recently produced the web series Finding Susan Glenn, written and directed by its star Max Greenfield (New Girl).
