This fall, Manhattan’s toniest supper club Feinstein’s 54/Below will be presenting two of Broadways most elite musical talents: Lindsay Mendez and Krysta Rodriguez – both of proud Mexican heritage. If you’re a performing arts aficionado, their names conjure memories of their recent triumphs – if you’re new to the theater game, I’m happy to introduce them to you.
Lindsay Mendez — October 21, 27 & 29, 2018
Newly minted Tony Award winner Lindsay Mendez, recent star of the Broadway revival of Carousel, brings her solo cabaret show to the gloriously appointed Feinstein’s/54 Below stage. Known for her tremendous, roof-raising voice and searing stage energy, Lindsay will debut golden age Broadway favorites alongside her favorite tunes from her collaborations with current musical theatre writers.
This supremely gifted singing actor won the 2018 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for her fresh performance as Carrie Pipperidge in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. Lindsay has brought her many graces to numerous Broadway shows including Significant Other, Wicked, Godspell, Everyday Rapture, and Grease.
Beyond her rich vocal prowess, the young Ms. Mendez brings to Feinstein’s intimate nightclub a personable charm and natural wit that has critics agreeing that a new stage star has been born. Don’t miss this consummate performer doing what she does best: delighting audiences.
Krysta Rodriguez — November 27, 2018 – December 2, 2018
Krysta Rodriguez makes her long-awaited Feinstein’s/54 Below solo via a personal concert exploring career highlights from her Broadway appearances in shows such as Spring Awakening, First Date, The Addams Family, In the Heights, A Chorus Line, and Good Vibrations. Her set will also include her favorite songs and a few musical surprises in this evening featuring special guests!
Rodriguez was most recently seen playing the character of Anita at the National Symphony production of West Side Story. On television, Rodriguez is best known from her scene-stealing turn on the second season of NBC’s Smash as fan-favorite Ana Vargas. Rodriguez was a standout in the Hollywood Bowl production of A Chorus Line, in which the Hollywood Reporter singled her out as the “Broadway pro whose delivery is so powerful she easily fills the cavernous Bowl, leading the cast to a cathartic crescendo.” Other television credits include the NBC series Trial & Error opposite John Lithgow and recurring roles on Quantico, Younger, Chasing Life, The Mysteries of Laura, Married, and Gossip Girl.
Ms. Rodriguez’s beautifully expressive eyes are eclipsed only by her warm evocative voice and winning song stylings. To see her perform is to witness someone destined to become one of entertainment’s most enduring talents.
