Hollywood — This week it was announced that Ligiah Villalobos (Under the Same Moon) has been brought on board to write one of three projects Ben Silverman’s Electus studios has set up at NBC. Villalobos will be the writer for Loteria a TV show about a Mexican-American mogul who is killed in a suspicious car crash and his kids find out they have been cut out of his will.
The series will explore the question as to whether the car crash was an accident or a plot by one of his kids to kill him.
Villalobos’ television credits include Ed, Go,Diego! Go and HBO’s Walkout. But it was her bilingual movie Under the Same Moon (Bajo la misma luna) in 2007 that was both a critical success (having won an ALMA and an Image Award) as well as a financial success that cemented Villalobos’ grasp on the bilingual U.S. Latino Market.
