Latinos Score Big in Fall TV Series Renewals for “Mayans MC” & “Queen of the

Primetime TV ratings Lead to Renewals of Latino Lead Shows

FX announced that Mayans MC featuring an almost all Latino cast headed by JD Prado and Edward James Olmos has been renewed for a second season in 2019 based on the phenomenal breakout first season ratings and its continued audience retention.

USA Networks’ Queen of The South starring Alice Braga, Veronica Falcon, and Peter Gadiot has also received a fourth season renewal with new showrunners Dailyn Rodriquez and Ben Lobato taking over for Natalie Chaidez who is leaving to focus on developing her own projects.

Queen of the South is the number one scripted series on Thursday nights on advertiser-supported cable averaging 2.1 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

On Monday night network TV front, Papi Chulos Jay Hernandez as Magnum P.I on CBS and Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Melendez on ABC’s The Good Doctor have dominated the ratings. The Magnum P.I series premiere landed 8.3 million viewers, a 1.2 rating for the action-packed episode directed by Justin Lin (The Fast and The Furious franchise) and the second episode held at 6.3 million viewers and 0.9 rating. The show is expected to be a major hit in the international television market.

Gonzalez’s The Good Doctor maintained 7.5 million viewers and a 1.2 rating.

Hector Elizondo


Recognizing the enormous talent of award-winning veteran actor Hector Elizondo who is enjoying his seventh season as the co –star of the newly revamped Fox hit sit-com, Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen. The show debuted on Fox to huge ratings of 8.1 million viewers after ABC canceled the show last May. The 81-year-old Elizondo plays Ed Alzate, the thick-skinned, opinionated boss, and friend to Tim Allen’s Mike on the sitcom.
