Latino MediaCon & Expo Showcases Talent, Media & Brands


Pasadena, CA – The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) announces the 2012 Latino MediaCon & Expo taking place July 20-21 at the Pasadena Convention Center at 300 E. Green Street in Pasadena. MediaCon will convene media advocates and influencers, industry executives and celebrity talent to network, discuss trends and gain insight on emerging issues.   Haim Saban, Univision Chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group will be the featured keynote speaker at the luncheon on July 20th.

The two-day conference is uniquely designed as both a Latino media industry event as well as a Latino entertainment consumer showcase. The Entertainment Expo, which takes place on July 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is free and open to the public. There will be 60 entertainment and media booths highlighting media properties, launches, upcoming programming and diversity initiatives. Scheduled attractions include musical performances on two stages, comedians, celebrity meet and greets and autograph sessions with talent Cierra Ramirez, the newest cast member of the ABC Family’s hit Secret Life of the American Teenager; Art Laboe, Oldies but Goodies syndicated radio personality; and Power 106 radio host Big Boy, with others to be announced soon.

On board to discuss the evolving media industry will be distinguished leaders including producer Elizabeth Avellán, (Spy Kids, Sin City, Machete) Co-Owner and Vice President of Troublemaker Studios and President of EYA Productions; Rick Sanchez, journalist and news anchor; director Patricia Riggen, (La Misma Luna, Girl in Progress) nominated for a Directors Guild of America award for the Disney musical Lemonade Mouth; Susan Gonzales, Head of Community Engagement for Facebook; Ivan de Paz, President and CEO of DePaz Management; Maria Elena Salinas, Univision’s Emmy-Award-winning journalist; Kimberly Myers, Director of Diversity for the Writers Guild of America West; Maria Timpani, Senior Business Representative at SAG-AFTRA New Media; Alicia Rivera Frankl, President of Production and Finance for Tayrona Films Inc. and Co-Chair of the Directors Guild of America’s Latino Committee; writer/director Jesús Salvador Treviño, (Law & Order, ER, Bones) and founder of Latinopia.com;  and Ligiah Villalobos, writer and executive producer of the independent feature film La Misma Luna.
