LA Bulla: Lucha Libre, Art & Concert at Plaza de La Raza

Exodus Events Present Cultural Experiences With an Eye On Philanthropy

Los Angeles, CA – Exodus Events presents the first of three events slated for this year: La Bulla which will take place in the Heart of Los Angeles at the infamous Plaza De La Raza Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. LA Bulla will be hosted by the beautiful Melissa Santos, host of El Rey TV’s Lucha Underground and actor Richard Montoya (Water & Power) and co-founder of the comedy troupe Culture Clash.  El Jimador is one of the main sponsors of this event which will highlight some of Los Angeles’ most talented artists and musicians, Lucha Libre films, as well as some live Lucha Libre matches.

The merging of art, music, and LIVE Mexican Wrestling Lucha Libre has captured the interest of many Angelino’s making it one of the most popular cultural events in Los Angeles. Attendees can expect a car exhibit curated by internationally published photographer Memo Ortega, face painting, art exhibit curated by the living legend, Man One, and tunes by DJ Sloe Poke.  

Exodus Events’ mission is to create a new type of cultural experience specializing in art, live entertainment, concerts, community outreach, and fundraising. Last year’s event was a success raising over $10,000 for Plaza De la Raza, a non-profit organization that provides after school programs and cultural events in the performing and visual arts for children, teens and families.

La Bulla received major support from the community, Los Angeles Councilman Gil Cedillo, actor/musician Sergio Arau, Aurelio Bocanegra, and Tom Kenny better known for his role as Sponge Bob.

Melissa Santos is a professional wrestler, model, and actress, best known for her current role as the ring announcer for Lucha Underground. She initially started out on the 2012 relaunch of Women of Wrestling as La Niña, one-half of the tag team “Tropical Storm”.

Attendees can also expect Lucha Libre screenings by Hola Mexico Film Festival which is the largest film festival outside of Mexico. Hola Mexico Film Festival creates a space for inspired Latino filmmakers to display their work to a diverse audience.

Richard Montoya is an actor, director, producer, screenwriter, comedian, and

co-founding member of “Culture Clash”. And passionate about creating social and political change through a variety of artistic expressions

El Conjunto Nueva Ola, from Mexico City, will be rocking the house, a band that will definitely get you off your chair and dancing. With their iconic sounds of cumbia, with a twist of new wave, rock/disco tunes, covering sounds from La Sonora Dinamita to the late Chico Che & Rigo Tovar. El Conjunto Nueva Ola has been making waves throughout the music scene sharing the stage with iconic Latin Musicians and bands such as Café Tacvba, the late Jenni Rivera, Aleks Syntek, Belanova and Los Tigres Del Norte, among many others. Their unique style has attracted the attention of many with their signature Lucha Libre Masks and Cumbia style. One can expect a spectacular performance full of energy, dancing, and fun.

DJ Sloe Poke, is no ordinary DJ, he can spin several styles of music with ease which has made him LA’s best DJ.   He can mix a Salsa classic like Joe Arroyo’s Rebelion with Celso Pina’s Sonidero hit, Cumbia Sobre El Rio, then follow those songs with Thalia’s poppy, Piel Morena and Frankie Cutlass’ club fave, Puerto Rico,” making it all flow together. His diverse taste of music within culture and age has given him the edge to surpass other DJ’s in the game.
