Director Kimberly Bautista‘s documentary tells the story of Adela, 27, who left home for work one day and never returned. Her ex-boyfriend beat her until she was unrecognizable and left her at the side of the road. In Guatemala, her story is all to familiar, where 6,00 women have been murdered in the last decade. Only two percent of those killers have been sentenced. Adela’s sister, Rebeca, is determined to bring Adela’s killer to justice.

Winner of the 2012 HBO/NALIP Documentary Filmmaker Award

As a result of Rebeca’s persistence to hold a killer accountable, she becomes transformed from her journey and emerges as a feminist leader in her rural community. Indeed, justice is possible.
