Why We Laugh: funny Women is an uncensored look into the lives of female stand-up comedians, featuring interviews and live performance footage from some of today’s most prominent female voices in stand-up comedy and entertainment. This revealing documentary sheds light on the legacy of the female comedian and the dedication, courage and passion that is required to be successful in the male dominated stand-up comedy business.
The documentary is executive produced by Joan Rivers.

Kiki Melendez is an actress, writer, and producer. Named American Latino Pioneer in Entertainment, Kiki was the first female comedian nominated for the initial launch of the American Latino Awards . Melendez also received the prestigious Mavrick Award from the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival. She has recently completed her first feature length Docu-Comedy Journey of a Female Comic , to be released later this year.
