Los Angeles, CA — FOX TV’s television series Lucifer is about that hellish Lucifer. However in the series the Lord of Hell is actually quite charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome. Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo, the series premiered on January 25th and has been gaining fans along the way. Tonight’s episode Favorite Son will air at 9/8c.
Based on a comic book, the series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who is “bored and unhappy” as the Lord of Hell. He resigns his throne abandoning his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. He is smitten by LAPD homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) whose ex-husband Dan (Kevin Alejandro) is trying to win back.
In tonight’s episode Lucifer bails on Chloe when he becomes bored with her investigation into a ruthless biker gang murder. However, when he discovers something was stolen during the crime that was very personal to him, he demands that Chloe let him rejoin the case.
Kevin, whose fans have followed his career from various TV series in which he has starred over the past 10 years, is most recognized for his role of Jesus Velasquez in True Blood, the vampire series. He recently spoke with Latin Heat about his new role as the dedicated LAPD detective in Lucifer, who is intent on winning back the love of his ex-wife, and having to go toe to toe with the devil himself.
LatinHeat: Tell us about your character Dan.
Kevin Alejandro: Dan is a great detective. Unfortunately, because of his work he has sacrificed his family trying to move up the ladder. For the best part of the series Dan will stop at nothing to win back his wife.
LH: What do you enjoy best about the being in Lucifer?
KA: I love that the show is written really really well. It’s a fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series based the comic book series The Sandman. As an audience member you can let yourself go and get lost in the stories.
LH: You have formed a part of many different casts throughout your television career. Spending so much time with your fellow actors you tend to become like a family. Have you bonded with your Lucifer family yet?
KA: Oh Yeah! We have been working together for about seven months now. When you spend that much time with each other you can’t help but become a family. Sometimes we will text each other up to 45 times in a day; we will talk about the script, our characters, family etc.
LH: Tell us about your audiences. Who is watching Lucifer?
KA: Our audience is very diverse. A larger portion is younger, but from what we can tell, audiences across the board, of all ages are watching. And our audiences are smart, we know this because or the instant feedback we get from them, as they try to figure out where our characters are going even before we know.
Of course Alejandro would not divulge any plot points for the remaining seven episodes, only to say that there are revelations coming soon. Sound biblical.
Stay tuned tonight at 8/9c on FOX to find out.
