Washington, D.C. – Mexican actress Kate del Castillo has filed a complaint against the administration of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. Del castillo, who in 2015 arranged an interview with former fugitive drug dealer Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and Sean Penn, is demanding a human rights investigation with the O.A.S. Inter-American Human Rights Commission in Washington, D.C..
The star of Netflix original series Ingobernable and her attorney arrived to the O.A.S with several packages, which according to her, contain files that proof the violation of her human rights from the Mexican government. She claimed that former Mexico’s Attorney General, Arely Gomez leaked false information to the media, specially Azteca TV and Televisa, whom she says are responsible for the lies.
“People think I am guilty, but all the accusations against me were wrongly made by the Mexican government and then leaked to Televisa and Azteca TV in order to ruin my life and my career,” said del Castillo.
The actress, who also starred in the Telemundo hit La Reina del Sur, has not been able to return to Mexico to work or visit her family because of the charges and accusations the government has made against her.
According to Del Castillo’s attorney, Harland Braun, there is no indication that the United States government is investigating her client and called the allegations made by former Mexico’s Attorney General Arely Gomez “ridiculous.”
Del Castillo again denied she laundered money. However, the case is still pending in Mexico.
