Kate del Castillo Asserts She Will Produce The “El Chapo” Biopic

By Edgar Soto

Los Angeles, CA — Despite the legal accusations in Mexico that have been publicized, actress/producer Kate del Castillo (Ingobernable, La Reina del Sur) is steadfast in proceeding with the telling of the life of the drug kingpin, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.  As it is now well known, del Castillo is said to have the blessing of “El Chapo” to tell his story having, it is alleged, legally granted her the rights.

The star of Netflix’s spanish-language series Ingobernable, who is being investigated in Mexico for alleged money- laundering in connection with El Chapo, has mentioned that as soon as her legal problems in Mexico are solved, the movie about the world’s most notorious drug lord of his time will begin shooting. “It’s there and will be made,” said Del Castillo at the premiere of Netflix’s original series Ingobernable.

In a separate interview with Mexican journalist, Sergio Sarmiento, Del Castillo’s attorney, Harland Braun said that the Mexican actress will tell “The good and the bad things, and she will do it correctly because Joaquin Guzman Loera is part of Mexican history, like the mafia is part of American history.” However, according to Braun, Del Castillo has never received any money from the drug lord and there is not financial link between “El Chapo” and her client.  Braun added that there is no indication that the United States government is investigating her client and called the allegations made by former Mexico’s Attorney General Arely Gomez“ridiculous.”  Arely Gomez was recently replaced by Senator Raúl Cervantes and now is head of the National Anticorruption System office.

Currently, Kate del Castillo is playing the role of Emilia Urquiza, the first lady of Mexico in the Netflix’s  Ingobernable.
