Actor and writer John Leguizamo (Collateral Damage, Ghetto Klown) took to social media recently to formally announce that he will release his first comic book at this year’s New York Comic Con which takes place from October 5 – 8, 2017. “My 1st comic will be released that week and I will b there in person to sign,” he twitted.
Leguizamo reached out to Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, creator of the La Borinquena Nuyorican superheroine comic book who help him bring his comic book to fruition.
Under Miranda-Rodriguez overview the artists for the comic book, the majority have worked at Marvel and DC comics at one time or other. The artists include: Chris Batista, Chris Sotomayor, Gustavo Vazquez and one Latina Sabrina Cintron.
The release of the comic book will coincide with Leguizamo’s return to Broadway with his latest one-man show Latin History For Morons. Details about the story of Leguizamo’s comic book is are unknown, but according to Miranda, it is a very Latino Story.
The comic book will debut at ComicCon during its run from Oct. 5-8,2017.
