On the Way to Campaign Trail to the POTUS

Emmy Award winning actor Jimmy Smits will soon be vying for the Presidency of the United States.  Smits has been cast in FOX’s 24: Legacy as a senator running for President with his wife, Rebecca (Miranda Otto) by his side in his bid for the White House.  If the name of the series rings familiar it’s because it is a re-boot of the hit series 24.  Headlining the series will be Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead) who plays an Army Ranger who is “re-enlisted” as his past live catches up with him and needs the CTU to help save his life and to stop an impending terror attack.

Smits is currently wrapping up his role in Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down where he plays Francisco ‘Papa Fuerte’ Cruz in the series that takes the audience back to the ’70s which gave birth to world of hip-hop, punk and disco .  Smits character is a South Bronx political boss who delivers services to his constituents that the city has failed to provide, such as jobs, housing and healthcare.  The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Aug 12, 2016.

Smits is repped by Sarah Clossey at United Talent Agency.

Maria Canals-Barrera Back and her Affair with Comedians

You can’t keep Maria Canals-Barrera (Wizards of Waverly Place) off the screen for too long.  Last year we saw her was as the sister in ABC’s Cristela headlined by comedienne Cristela Alonzo.

Canals-Barrera is back, this time on NBC’s untitled multi-camera family comedy pilot starring stand up comedian Vladimir Caamaño.  The series produced by Bill Lawrence and written by Adam Sztykiel and Caamaño is based on Caamaño’s real-life living with his Dominican father and older brother in the Bronx. Canals-Barrera plays Andrea Vlad’s high-energy mom in love with life in the U.S. The series has Vlad (Caamaño) wanting to branch out and live his own life but his father is fine with their extremely co-dependent family dynamic.

Canals-Barrera wis repped by APA and Teitelbaum Artists Group.
