Cross-promoting English and Spanish Shows to U.S. Latinos
The TV programming lines are increasingly blurred, tonight Guillermo Rodriguez, Jimmy Kimmel’s sidekick on The Jimmy Kimmel Show will make an appearance on Estrella Network’s Noches Con Platanito on Channel 62 (check your local listings) at 9pm/8pm C. This segment will air on Jimmy Kimmel later in ABC at 11:35pm PST.
This organic cross promotion is great programming since will be introducing Rodriguez and the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to Spanish-speaking audience; and with the Jimmy Kimmel Live showing the clip of Rodriguez’s appearance on Noches Con Platanito, it will introduce this campy Spanish-language show to English-speaking audiences.

Since the fall of 2013 Noches Con Platanito has been booking U.S. Latino talent (some who speak Spanish and some who don’t) on the show and even non-Latinos like Eric Roberts. The list of U.S. Latino actors who have appear on Platanito is long and it includes, Esai Morales (the new HBO series The Brink, Criminal Minds), Jacob Vargas (Cesar Chavez, Sons of Anarchy), Edy Ganam and Judy Reyes (both on Devious Maids) Nadine Velazquez (Major Crimes, Flight, Aztec Warrior), Dyana Ortelli (HOLA! L.A.), Lisa Vidal (Being Mary Jane). What it’s doing for the talent and the shows they are currently starring in, is introducing them to a whole new Latino audience .
This is targeted marketing money cannot buy…at least the marketers trying to expand their U.S. Latino audience share haven’t been able to come close to this kind of cross promotion.
