Jenny Rivera “The Latina Oprah” at Billboard Conference

Miami, FL  –  Jenni Rivera, one of the most prolific entertainers in the Hispanic entertainment industry, will sit with Billboard’s Executive Director of Latin Content and Programming, Leila Cobo, for the Q&A session, “The Diva We Want to Know” during the Billboard Latin Music Conference & Awards, presented by State Farm®, held April 23 to 26, at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami, Florida.

Jenni will discuss her versatile and dynamic career as an artist and entrepreneur and her success as one of the most prominent female figures in the Regional Mexican music genre. Information about registration can be found at www.BillboardLatinConference.com.

Known as the “Diva of Banda,” Jenni Rivera is one of the most successful and influential Latina stars in entertainment. Already an established platinum plus recording artist and live concert headliner, Jenni has fashioned a stunning metamorphosis into a major media mogul: starring and hosting television shows, a national radio program, a clothing line, a cosmetics company and a chain of boutiques under her name. Music is a vital link to Jenni’s loyal audience, as her unparalleled accolades include: 15 gold records, 15 platinum and five double platinum records, certified by the RIAA, with over 15 million records sold and numerous Latin Grammys and Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Her 2011 release Joyas Prestadas (Banda & Pop) topped the Billboard Latin charts with a savvy cross-cultural mix of Jenni’s signature regional Mexican sounds on one CD and the 11 songs reinterpreted with pop arrangements on the second. Throughout her career, she has garnered 16 entries on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs and 23 entries on the Regional Mexican Airplay.

Jenni has also achieved success beyond the music business. She is the star of the genre-leading, mun2 reality series I Love Jenni, which is the #1 reality show on Hispanic cable and launches season two on March 4. With her four-hour weekly radio talk show, Contacto Directo con Jenni Rivera, Jenni is confirming her reputation as the oft-touted “Latina Oprah.”

“There is no other act that compares to Jenni Rivera. She is the only Latin artist who stars in her own—very successful—television show. She’s a top-seller. She’s a top-touring act. And she represents Latina women in the United States like probably no other female act today does. She is in a league of her own,” said Cobo.

Jenni Rivera joins international superstar Pitbull and music mogul Emilio Estefan who are also scheduled to participate in the Billboard Latin Music Conference, presented by State Farm®, which unites today’s top Latin music artists and key Latin music industry influencers for informative panel discussions, live music showcases, networking opportunities, and The Billboard Latin Music Marketing Awards.

All conference registrants also receive tickets to Billboard en Concierto – a multi-market concert series featuring top 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists, The Billboard Bash – a pre-Billboard Latin Music Awards party featuring performances by some of this year’s finalists, and The Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm – the longest-running and most prestigious awards show in the Latin music industry. The awards show, produced and broadcast live by Telemundo, honors the biggest stars based on the Latin Billboard charts, and features performances by top artists across all genres of Latin music.

The conference also features “The Marketing Exchange,” sponsored by Telemundo and mun2 – unique and exciting programming dedicated to the ins and outs of branding, sponsorships and partnerships. The panel topics are focused on the latest trends in Latin music marketing, including Reaching the New Latino – How brands and agencies are targeting the “New” US Born Latino via music and music branded events; Targeting Music – Winning strategies from music mogul Emilio Estefan and Target VP of Entertainment John Butcher; Campaigns that Work – How sponsorships and branding campaigns have yielded positive results for artists in terms of music sales, ticket sales and overall recognition; and The Artist as a Brand – A one-on-one with a top artist who has defined his/her brand in multiple arenas.
