Jenni Rivera: Was She Targeted by Drug Lord, El Chapo?


What has been circulating as rumors since the day international Mexican-American singer/songwriter-actress-philantropist and entrepreneur, Jenni Rivera died on December 9, 2012, has now been turned into a news item currently circulating in Mexico and reported by media outlets Imagen Entretenimiento, the TV program, Sale el Sol, and also reported by Mexico’s popular Radio Formula, and La Neta Noticias, which published the latest updates on the singer’s death.


It is no secret that popular performing artists are often invited to private events hosted by drug cartel lords and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was never an exception. Usually for the artists being invited, it is an offer they should not turn down, ever.

According to La Neta News, “The secrets behind the death of Jenni Rivera, one of the most internationally recognized singers of Mexican descent was, without doubt, an empowered woman, super talented and charismatic performer who captivated her legion of fans. However, behind that beauty, her smile, and her charming attitude hid secrets that may have dragged her to her death.”

According to other media reports the death of Jenni Rivera is attributed to organized crime, specifically by the ex-leader of a criminal group: Edgar Valdez Villarreal, better known as “La Barbie,” because, allegedly, he admitted to the authorities that he had been ordered to have the singer killed in compliance with the orders of his colleague El Chapo Guzmán, because Rivera was forbidden to perform in Monterrey, Mexico.” Valdez Villarreal was arrested on August 30, 2010, and now is serving a 49-year sentence in a U.S. federal prison.

Jenni’s last concert took place in Monterrey, Mexico, where she was ‘prohibited’ from performing– died one hour after boarding a private plane. Nothing was known about the air transport, the plane, details that are normally carefully planned out in advance and made known to all parties.


The reporter, Gustavo Adolfo Infante, stated that singer Alejandra Guzman had been scheduled to travel with Rivera on that private plane flight. “By a miracle, she arrived late and missed the flight.”

According to the incarcerated Villarreal, “There was a meeting before that fateful day, and El Chapo spoke to me on the phone and he told me that Jenni was forbidden to play in Monterrey because of the Zetas and that we should be very careful he ordered that whoever was going to play there of our friends, we had to kill them because that put everyone’s safety at risk. ”

The entertainment TV show, Sale el Sol, revisited the issue of the diva’s death.


“La Barbie” also pointed out that before the his arrest by U.S. federal police stopped him, in August 2010, “Rivera was always invited to be partying at the ranch, she always behaved very well with me and my friends, always very happy she sang for us . ”
