Greetings, from behind the “Tinseltown Curtain.” This is a series about life in the media capital of the world, Hollywould’vecould’veshould’ve. When I first married my wonderful wife Ana, she left working for the Clinton Administration and moved from Washington D.C. to LA. Imagine the culture shock. After a month in the land of milk and Honey Boo Boo, she queried, “Mi Amor, do people in this town talk about anything other than themselves?” I had no comeback. So in an attempt to dispel the stereotype that we are not interested in politics or policy, unless there’s a possible Emmy or Oscar behind it, here’s my effort:
Years ago, I remember the Denver Broncos were to play the Seattle Seahawks. Brian Bosworth, “The Boz,” Seattle’s loud-mouthed linebacker, was on every TV and radio show trash talking the Broncos, and did everything but call John Elway’s mama names. Needless to say, he raised the cackles of every Denver fan. That Sunday outside of Mile High Stadium, I noticed booth after booth selling “Bosworth Sucks” t-shirts. They were flying off the shelf and at a huge premium. I approached a salesperson and asked, “Just curious, but who’s the company selling these t-shirts?” He confided in me whispering, “Brian Bosworth.” Bingo, my suspicions were true! God bless capitalism. Now did Brian Bosworth really hate John Elway? I seriously doubt it. But he did love making money and boy howdy was he raking it in. He was a brilliant marketer!
“The Boz,” is long gone from the public eye, but now Rush Limbaugh “El Rushbo” has become the talk show version of Brian Bosworth and the 11 million undocumented Latinos in America are his John Elway’s. Like Brian, Rush is laughing all the way to the bank. Unlike Brian, Rush is neither buff, nor strikingly handsome, but boy does he deliver a hit! Bone crushing and intent on defeating the enemy, not to mention, feeding his voracious narcissist appetite all at the same time. But don’t Rush to judgment. Ask yourself, do “El Rushbo” and other right wingers (Bill O’Reilly, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin ad nauseam) really hate undocumented workers? I actually don’t believe they do. I’m sure when “El Rushbo” is mowing his lawn, cleaning his hotel room and washing his dishes when he dines out, he truly understands the value of an honest hard days work and thus can sympathize with this group that keeps the country running. So from the bottom of my heart, I don’t believe Rush Limbaugh hates immigrants. But he loves making money from saying things that he knows will inflame other people living in fear.
I googled the definition of the word “Prostitute” and it says “The corrupt use of one’s talents for personal or financial gain.” I have decided I will submit a request to Google to add a photo of Rush Limbaugh with a large Churchill protruding from his lips, to said definition. Historically speaking, Rush makes Aspasia, cruising the Greek baths look like an amateur.
I must point out however that there is one significant difference between Brian Bosworth and Rush Limbaugh. This isn’t a game!!!! It actually affects people’s lives. Kinda’ like screaming, “fire” in a crowded theater and not meaning it. It’s real people that get affected by his really ignorant comments. So I’ve decided that at the next Republican Convention, I’m going to set up lots of booths outside the arena and sell t-shirts that say in bold block letters “Undocumented Workers Suck!” I guarantee there will be a line around the block. I will then take my huge piles of money and donate it to an organization like the Dolores Huerta Foundation and others that help the plight of God loving, patriotic, family centric people yearning to be free and come out of the shadows. God I love this country!
The end
