The Imagen Award nominations were announced this afternoon and among the nominees are TV favorites Jane the Virgin and Cristela and the films The Book Of Life, Spare Parts, and Ana Maria in Novela Land. The Imagen Awards, the premier Latino entertainment awards which honor the positive portrayals and creative excellence of Latinos and Latino cultures in television and film. This year the awards will be presented at a special ceremony on Friday evening, August 21st, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Emmy Award-winning director/producer/choreographer Kenny Ortega will produce. Ortega is best known for directing Hocus Pocus, the High Musical trilogy and was set to direct Michael Jackson’s This Is It concert tour and, ultimately, directed Michael Jackson’s This Is It documentary.
