Miami, FL – J Balvin was named “The Artist of the Year” at the 2016 Premios Lo Nuestro awards show held at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. During the 28th ceremony of the longest running Spanish-language awards show, the Colombian reggaeton singer expressed gratitude and excitement after receiving the biggest award of Thursday’s night. “Is this for me? are you serious? Thank you God, thanks Colombia, the sacrifice is worth it,” he said upon accepting his award. He also invited the audience to not quit on their dreams “Keep dreaming, get out of the box and always fight for happiness.” The other nominee in the same category were Javier Rosas, Gerardo Ortiz and Enrique Iglesias.
Premio Lo Nuestro originally aired on the Univision the U.S. based Spanish-language Network in 1989 with the purpose of honoring the best of Latin music from around the world.
J Balvin also joined the group of Colombian singers stars (Maluma, Fonseca, Silvestre Dangond, Juanes and Silvestre Celedon) together with soccer player Pipe Valderrama in a special performance dedicated to Legendary Colombian singer Carlos Vives who received a special recognition on Thursday’s night. J Balvin is rocking the top of the charts in the U.S and around the world with his single “Ginza” and is currently number one on Billboard’s Hot Latin Song.
