Music and pop culture icon Charo will be featured in the season premiere of the popular series Oprah:  Where Are They Now? Sunday, June 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.  Oprah:  Where Are They Now? features updates on some of the biggest newsmakers and most memorable Oprah Show guests of all time.

In a rare interview from her Beverly Hills home, Charo shares the secrets of her success, offers a glimpse inside her costume wardrobe and introduces her son Shel Rasten, who talks about what it was like growing up with his famous mother.  Plus, Charo sets the record straight about the real meaning of her multimillion-dollar catchphrase “Cuchi-Cuchi.”

Charo on the real meaning of Cuchi-Cuchi:

“What cuchi cuchi came from is such a disappointment for everybody when they know because everybody thinks that is sex.  C-U-C-H-I-L-L-O, (Koo-chee-yo), that was the name of my dog.  He was a mix between a St. Bernard and a pit bull.  I make a joke about that.  First he bite you and then he run for help.  But I call him “cuchi cuchi”.  He have a problem in the back so when the dog wiggle, he don’t wiggle like a dog, he wiggle up front, up front I swear.  Never in my mind was sex.  Cuchi-Cuchi showed me the way to the bank so thank you very much everybody.”

Oprah: Where Are They Now is executive produced by Harpo Studios’ Jill Van Lokeren, Jon Sinclair, Julie Simpson and Veronica Votypka.
