Los Angeles, CA – Mexican director/producer Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark) returns to the scene with Carnival Row, a new pilot ordered by Amazon.

Carnival Row, who was written by Travis Beacham, was acquired by Legendary and will now be developed in to a television series with Amazon Studios.

Del Toro will co-write and executive produce the pilot of the feature script along with Beacham and René Echeverria (Castle, Star Trek).

Echeverria work on such hit TV show Star Trek: The Next Generation, Dark Angel and Castle and his stint as the show runner on Terra Nova will serve him well as he will also be show runner of Carnival Row, which is set in the future in a city called the Burgue. This city looks a lot like 18th Century London and is inhabited by humans and other creatures, and a serial killer is on the loose.“We tried to do it [Carnaval Row] for so long as a film that the rights reverted back to Travis as a basic story,” del Toro told The Hollywood Reporter.
