The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced the names of the 5 songwriters and composers to be welcomed this year into the esteemed hall.
Miami, Fl – Mexican singer and songwriter Gloria Trevi will be be officially inducted at the 6th annual La Musa Awards to take place October 18th at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. The Board of Directors and Officers of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame will also honor Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés, singer Carlos Rubira Infante, Fernando Osorio and American record producer KC Porter.
Trevi, who was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1968, started her career in a girl band called Boquitas Pentads (Little Mouths Lipstick). Inspired by British and American Rock, as well as by Latin music, she decided to become a solo artist. She first released her debut album in 1989, ¿Qué hago aquí? (What am I doing here). Between 1991 and 1996, Trevi released five albums and starred in three Mexican box-office hit films. In 1992 she toured the Caribbean and South America. Trevi has received three Univision Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, has won one Billboard Latin award and received five prestigious awards at Viña del Mar among many other recognitions.
The confirmed Inductees will be take part in the La Musa Awards induction ceremony and receive their awards in-person.
To be eligible for induction into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame the songwriter, composer or lyricist must have had their first published work released at least 20 years prior to the year of induction. All inductees are presented with the silver La Musa trophy statuette. Honorees are presented with bronze Musas created by world-renowned sculptor Alan LeQuire.
