Gina Rodriguez is set to guest-direct the 11thepisode of the new Charmed and she has signed on with full confidence! Rodriguez’s episode will air in January 2019.

She made her directorial debut on Jane The Virgin last season with the 10thepisode of the fourth season. Rodriguez has stated that some of her influences in “stepping behind the camera were past Jane directors Brad Silberling and Melanie Mayron.

She expressed her enthusiasm to Variety, where Rodriguez is quoted:

Obviously very excited that I get to do it with three Latinas. It’s really f—ing awesome. It’s going to be really exciting to see what that journey is.”

Even before Rodriguez became a household name, she was named in The Hollywood Reporter’s “35 Hottest Young Latinos in Entertainment,” who had emerged out of the Sundance Festival’s acclaimed indie, Filly Brown. That role took her to a lead in Sleeping With the Fishes. Her quote then:

My dilemma, was to follow a dream that seemed unfathomable in an industry where my culture wasn’t portrayed in a positive light.” Her household fame, came in 2014, when Rodriguez was cast in the lead for the CW’s Jane the Virgin, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Actress in a Television Series-Comedy, and has been on a steady rise ever since.” –Gina Rodriguez
