¡Gaytino! Makes its Way to Austin

One Chicano’s journey from East L.A. to Broadway and Back to Hollywood now to Austin

¡Gaytino¡ is a riveting solo show chronicling actor/producer Dan Guerrero’s remarkable life journey from East LA to Broadway and back to Hollywood.  Now its set to have a one night performance at the MACC Auditorium in Austin, Tx on December 4th.

The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center (the MACC), in collaboration with Gaytino Productions and Reyes Entertainment, will present the Austin premiere of ¡Gaytino!, the one man show written and performed by the award-winning Guerrero.

The Washington Post called it “A disarming twist on the triumph-of-the-human-spirit theme,” and the L.A. Times said:  “A loveable wit…infectious lunacy.”

“Our mission is to preserve, create and promote Mexican-American cultural arts and heritage,” said Linda Crockett, Event Coordinator for the Center. “¡Gaytino! is an important part of that mission.”

¡Gaytino! travels through decades of Mexican-American/Chicano history, and the gay experience, from a unique and very personal perspective. Touching, provocative, hilarious and absolutely one-of-a-kind, ¡Gaytino! has been embraced by critics and mainstream audiences alike through nationwide performances, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and at the historic Lensic Theatre in Santa Fe, where his performance was introduced by Governor Bill Richardson.

The autobiographical play with music and visual projections, appeals to all audiences with its universal themes:  coming of age, self-identity, self-acceptance, a father/son relationship and a treasured lifelong friendship.  Dan Guerrero’s father was Chicano music icon Lalo Guerrero and his lifelong friend was late visual artist Carlos Almaraz.  Read more about ¡Gaytino! www.gaytino.com
