Actor E.J. Bonilla will Serve as Host for the Fuse Original Special on March 4 at 4 P.M. ET/PT
Los Angeles, CA – Fuse, a national television network for the fast-growing, Latino and multicultural 18-34 audience, will premiere First Frame: The Emerging Latino Filmmakers, an original special showcasing film shorts produced and directed by rising Latino filmmakers. The special will air on March 4 at 4 p.m. PT/ET.

E.J. Bonilla, Emmy Award and Imagen Award-nominated actor and winner of 2012’s Los Angeles Film Festival Jury Prize for Outstanding Performance (Four), has been tapped to host the special that will feature noted and award-winning shorts spanning myriad genres including drama, family, horror and comedy.

The March 4 premiere of First Frame: The Emerging Latino Filmmakers marks the 5th consecutive year that Fuse Media has showcased the nation’s most talented, aspiring Latino talent. The 2-hour original special will include exclusive interviews with a panel of judges charged with choosing only six film shorts to feature from more than 500 submissions. The judges include Michael Olmos (Director of Filly Brown and winner of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury prize) and actor/writer Rafael Agustin, (The Blexicans, Chipster, The Amateur). Each judge provides meaningful commentary on how the projects captured their attention and impacted their decision to choose these titles as standouts. Jesus Alarcon – Text Amy – About a teenager who tries to ditch her Quinceañera to go to a concert. (Comedy)
Carmen Jimenez – Oasis – A tension-filled mystery about an apartment superintendent who discovers a dark secret. (Horror)
Jesus Martinez – Capoeira – A story focusing on an aging Capoeira student who must learn to live in the present in order to face his fears and live up to his true potential. (Drama)
Roee Messinger – Drifting – Based on a short story, depicting a man in the jungle who suffers from a snake bite. (Drama)
Joshua Ovalle – Two and a Quarter Minutes – An extremely personal, experimental piece that depicts a young boy reflecting on his life before drowning. (Drama)
Kico Velarde, Kiko – The Shooting Star Salesman – Depicts a timeless salesman who invents a shooting star machine. The film explores what it means to believe in something bigger than yourself. (Family)
