Samba is a hard hitting boxing drama that explores life in the mean streets of the island nation of the Dominican Republic. It arrives on VOD (Video On Demand) beginning December 18th. The English language film stars Laura Gomez (Orange is the New Black), Alenis Perez Soto (Sugar) and Ettore D’Allesandro (Todas Las Mujeres son Iguales). Co- directed by the Dominican-Mexican duo, Laura Amelia Guzman and Israel Cardenas put a delicate touch to the film which was shot on location. The directing duo have produced, directed, written and photographed several features to date including the 2014 Dollares De Arena starring Geraldine Chaplin.
Samba premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival where it was nominated for Best Screenplay and the Jury Award, both in the Best International Narrative competition.
