HBO’s Looking which premiered in January of 2014, and almost simultaneously aired in LatinAmerica, Canada, and New Zealand, Hungry shoring up its domestic and international following on a variety of HBO properties, is back with 10 new episodes for its 2nd season which premieres Sunday, Jan. 11 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Looking stars Jonathan Groff (Glee, HBO’s The Normal Heart) as Patrick, Frankie J. Alvarez (Smash) as Agustín and Murray Bartlett (August) as Dom who are all back for the 2nd season.
From collaborators Michael Lannan and Andrew Haigh (Weekend), the show takes a frank look at the experiences of three close friends living in San Francisco as they explore the options available to a new generation of gay men seeking fulfillment in love and life.
For a refresher or new audiences here is a peek of what the second season brings. Patrick (Jonathan Groff) is on the verge of a new relationship that could complicate life at work and home, even as he tries to salvage a friendship from an old one. Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez), still floundering from his own breakup, leaves old aspirations behind while making a new connection. Dom (Murray Bartless) continues to pursue his restaurant dreams, but encounters obstacles at every turn. While Raul Castillo this season is upgraded from recurring to a regular as Richie Donado, a barber and Patrick’s part-time romantic interest. Also returning for season two as regulars are Lauren Weedman (Date Night) as Dom’s roommate, Doris, and Russell Tovey (The History Boys) as Kevin.

Though Patrick wants to lay low, the guys end up at a bacchanalian party in the woods after running into a Faerie. Meanwhile, Patrick mulls over what he wants from his life in the city, and Dom looks for clues in the house about Lynn’s old life.

After reminiscing over their childhood obsessions, Patrick and Kevin (Russell Tovey) decide to develop a gay game app on the side, but Patrick soon descends into a panic spiral when he discovers a small rash. Dom scopes out a location in the Tenderloin for a peri peri chicken take-out window; Doris (Lauren Weedman) is chatted up by a cute political aide; and Agustín makes plans to meet up with Eddie (Daniel Franzese), the “bear” he met at Russian River, but gets sidetracked by an old co-worker.

Patrick gets ready for his first official overnight with Kevin, who’s also agreed to attend Dom’s rugby match – though Kevin doesn’t want Patrick’s friends to know they are seeing each other. Agustín visits Richie to make amends and thank him for the night before. At breakfast with Doris and her new fling, Malik (Bashir Salahuddin), Dom questions whether Lynn fully supports his dream of opening his own restaurant.
