Los Angeles, CA — As the critically acclaimed film Filly Brown gets ready to release on April 19th, the growing number of fans eagarly await the 2012 Sundance darling which features award-worthy performances from a cast of seasoned performers and the introduction of several talents to the big screen.  As the leading independent multi-media company, Silent Giant Entertainment, gears up for the release of the film’s soundtrack, the buzz could not be louder. The album will be available on iTunes and select music outlets on April 16th to coincide with the film’s release on April 19th

Filly Brown not only reunites Latino Hollywood trailblazers, Edward James Olmos and Lou Diamond Phillips for the first time in 25 years since their roles in Stand and Deliver but also introduces Gina Rodriguez in her breakout role as the film’s title character which has everyone talking. Also starring in the film is the late Jenni Rivera in her first and unfortunately last role on the big screen. Rounding out the cast are Latin hip hop heavies Baby Bash and Chingo Bling.

The lead single “Reflections” is available now on iTunes. The track partners rising star and lead actress, Gina Rodriguez with veteran Latin hip hop artist, Larry “Slow Pain” Patino. “Reflections” is an explosive track written by Patino and co-produced by Silent Giant Entertainment co-founder, Edward “E-Dub” Rios and Javie Lopez. The single is a standout with its lush orchestral beat and emotional lyrical exchange between Rodriguez and Slow Pain.

“Although Gina Rodriguez is new to the art of recording music, her vocal performance and delivery run parallel with her stellar acting abilities”, says E-Dub.

Mico Olmos, contributor to the production on soundtrack and co-producer of film adds, “Working with Slow Pain was like watching Willie Wanka in his chocolate factory. A creative genius, doing what comes most natural and seemingly effortless!”

Other album highlights include a special dedication to Jenni Rivera and a heartfelt cover of Eric Clapton’s classic, “Tears In Heaven”, performed by SGE artist, Malik. The full-length soundtrack also features music from Baby Bash (plays “Caeser” in film), MC Magic, Lala Romero (plays herself in film), Slow Pain, Braxton Millz (plays lead character’s on-screen love interest), Dominator, Carolyn Rodriguez and Chrissie Fit (plays “Lupe” in film).

Co-producer and radio pioneer, Lisa “Khool Aid” Rios also makes her film debut in the film. Her cameo is fitting as many of the stars/artists involved in the film and soundtrack have a deep history with Rio’s and her husband Edward’s groundbreaking “Pocos Pero Locos” syndicated radio show, where many of the stars and friends, including Jenni Rivera, frequented as guests. Khool Aid and E-Dub were instrumental in casting Rivera in the role of “Maria Tonorio”, the imprisoned mother of the lead character. “We knew that Jenni’s authentic nature, and connection to the people would be a home-run and translate to the big screen,” says Khool Aid. “It’s a blessing to etch this timeless soundtrack in history, and expose the lifestyle to the masses,” she adds.

Filly Brown is a Silent Giant Entertainment, Cima Productions and Olmos Production. SGE is slated to go into production this summer on a comedy film starring Chingo Bling. Filly Brown Soundtrack available on iTunes and select music stores on April 16.
