If it’s one thing this past Latinx Heritage Month has amplify, is it’s important to shine a light on the Latinx owned brands that are up and coming. Not only during Latinx Heritage Month, but all year long. Last Fashion Fresh we recognized brands that collaborated with Latinx artists and content providers. However, there are still more Latinx owned fashion brands to know about. And the list is on going, considering the growth of Latinx businesses over the last few years.
There’s not doubt that comfort and style is on the radar for most consumers these days. With streetwear and casual clothing on trend, these Latinx brands hit the mark. It’s exciting to see brands who can identify with what is going on and how they can best cater to their customer’s needs.
Viva La Bonita is a Latina owned brand founded by Rachel Gomez, whose motto is “A Lifestyle & Apparel Brand inspired by the spirit of the Mujeres who are fearless.” Their clothing is right in line with their motto. Viva La Bonita’s newest pieces are the bonita short set collection that are sweatshirts with matching shorts.
Their apparel is stylish and comfortable. Other pieces of their collection are t-shirts and sweaters with “Bonita” written on them in old english text. Raggedytiff is a Latina fashion brand founded by Jessica Resendiz. According to the website RaggeyTiff is inspired by Resendiz’s Mexican roots and focuses on cultural traditions and women empowerment. Many of the pieces are handmade incorporating hand painting and hand sewing. On Raggedytiff’s about page, designer Jessica Resendiz says, “She wants every person that wears her pieces to feel empowered, powerful and full of culture.”
For Raggedytiff’s Fall 2020 collection, Resendiz uses inspiration from Dia De Los Muertos. The main design centered around the Fall collection, is a monarca (Monarch) butterfly with a calavera (skull) for the head. The collection is called “Amor Eterno,” Resendiz stated on the website that it’s “inspired by my beautiful traditions and in honor of my ancestors and culture. This dreamy collection features flying monarcas which represents every loved one that has departed.” The colors for the pieces in the collection have rich gold tones of yellow, orange, brown, peach and black. The t-shirts and beanies in the collection have the monarca embroidery on the front. Not only are the pieces beautiful, but the meaning behind them is even more powerful. Remembering those who have passed on and celebrating them in a lovely way. Shop the Amor Eterno collection and more at raggedytiff.com.
