New NBC contract makes, Aguilera one of the highest paid women on reality TV!

Pop diva and NBC’s coach on The Voice has just reclaimed her spinning chair on Season 5 for a mere $17 million! No one can argue that Christina Aguilera isn’t worth every cent of her new contract. While NBC is staying mum on Aguilera’s new contract not even mentioning it today at New York upfront presentations, industry insiders state.

Aguilera’s salary of $17 million is close to the salary she was paid in Season 3, which makes her one of the highest paid women on reality TV. Up until today, it was still not known if Aguilera would be returning.

Mariah Carey currently makes a reported $18 million on Fox’s American Idol and Britney Spears made a reported $15 million on The X Factor.

Last December, Aguilera announced that she was leaving The Voice to promote her “Lotus” album and tour. Cee Lo Green also announced his exit at the same time. Shakira and Usher replaced them on the current season.

At the time, executive producer Mark Burnett played down the departures, saying that he expected that his coaches would rotate in and out and they were working artists. He also said they were always welcome to return.

The Voice has quickly risen to the top of the reality talent show ranks over its past four seasons. Last year, it took Idol’s spot in the Emmy race, replacing it among the nominees in the Outstanding Reality Competition category.

Thanks to the amazing work Christina Aguilera and her fellow coaches have help make The Voice a ratings darling. In April, it reached a ratings milestone when its two installments took the top two slots for the week in both the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers for the first time in the series’ history.
