Esai Morales, James Caan Join Starz “Magic City” For Season 2

Starz’s Magic City, the Miami-based period drama is bringing in some Latino power to spruce up the cast for Season two with the casting of Esai Morales. In addition, veteran mega star James Caan will also join the cast also in a major recurring role.

Magic City is set in the 1959 period shortly after the Cuban Revolution and tells the story of Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the owner of Miami’s glamorous Miramar Playa hotel, who is forced to make a deal with local mob boss Ben Diamond (Danny Huston). Caan will play Sy Berman, who is the head of the Chicago mob and Diamond’s boss. Morales will play Carlos Ruiz, a former rebel who once fought beside Castro but now works to free Cuba from the man he once considered a brother.

Bringing in Sonny Corleone to Magic City is a perfect fit since the series is said to be inspired by The Godfather, which co-starred Caan in his signature, Oscar-nominated role.

Morales is represented by Innovative Artists and KLWGN, more recently has been seen in a recurring role on Fairly Legal and Caprica. Season two of Magic City starts this week in Miami for a 2013 premiere. Mitch Glazer is creator/executive producer and returning cast members include: Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, Huston, Kelly Lynch, Steven Straight, Christian CookeYul Vasquez, Dominik Garcia-Lorido and Elena Satine. Glazer, Geyer Kosinski and Fred Berner executive produce.
