Equitas Entertainment Partners with Kohler Co. and H2O Worldwide to Aide Victims of Hurricane Maria
Hollywood, CA – Equitas Entertainment Partners has partnered with Kohler Co. and H2O Worldwide for the Imprisoned film Benefit Screening in support of Hurricane Maria relief efforts through donations made to Puerto Ricans in Action (PRiA), a non-profit organization, made at this star-studded, red carpet event which takes place at the American Cinematheque’s historic Egyptian Theatre on Thursday, October 25, 2018
The Imprisoned Benefit Screening will be hosted by Esai Morales (NCIS: Los Angeles) and Lisa Vidal (Being Mary Jane) and is presented by APERTURA showcase, in association with the American Cinematheque. A portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to Puerto Ricans in Action, an organization formed in 2016 with the sole mission to ensure the vibrant future of the Puerto Rican people by strengthening Puerto Rican identity, communities, and connection with Puerto Rico.
A year ago as a result of Hurricane Maria, PRiA, Kohler, and H2O Worldwide partnered with Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, to provide clean drinking water to those in need via Proyecto Agua Limpia (Clean Water Project). The project has since successfully distributed over 18,000 KOHLER Clarity™ water filters and once completed, more than 35,000 units will have been distributed. This will serve over 140,000 people in the most deeded rural locations throughout Puerto Rico.
It’s been over a year since Hurricane’s Maria and Irma destroyed the island of Puerto Rico, and the recovery to normalcy has not been easy without federal assistance. “Our main goals are to be the central organizer for the Puerto Rican community in Los Angeles and to ensure everyone on the island has access to clean drinking water,” said Jorge L. Rivera, Co-Director, Puerto Ricans in Action.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Kohler and H20 Worldwide, two organizations who share our mission and values,” said Holly LeVow, Equitas Entertainment Co-Founder and film producer whose mission is to tell stories that can be entertaining, thought-provoking, socially responsible and fiscally profitable.
Imprisoned was the last film to complete principal photography before hurricanes Irma and Maria hit Puerto Rico. Equitas recruited local cast and crew for the production of the film and generously made personal donations to help them get through the aftermath immediately following the destruction of their beloved island. It was during this time Equitas partnered with Puerto Ricans in Action
“The need for potable water in Puerto Rico is still extremely high and we are grateful to our partners and donors for their continued support and encouragement as we assist those who are still affected by Hurricane Maria,” said Craig W. Rider, president of H2O Worldwide Group.

A portion of the proceeds from this benefit screening will be donated to the people of Puerto Rico to assist in their on-going recovery efforts. APERTURA Showcase and the American Cinematheque, or their programs, will not benefit from this screening. All, if any, tax benefits to sponsors and donors to this screening will be granted by Puerto Ricans in Action.
