New York, NY – Univision Communications announced on Friday that Michael Finn has been appointed senior vice president of Sales & Marketing, El Rey Network. Reporting to Univision Communications executive vice president of Advertising Sales Steve Mandala, Finn will be based in the Company’s New York office beginning September 3, 2013.
Univision Communications announced a strategic investment in El Rey Network during its May upfront presentation, forming a partnership through which Univision is responsible for the back office operations, sales and distribution of the network. In this newly-created role, Finn will lead the sales team dedicated to connecting advertisers and their agencies with the new general entertainment, English-language cable network created by renowned American filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures. The network is scheduled to launch in December 2013 on Comcast.
“Michael brings a great energy and a proven record of effectively building teams to deliver results for marketers,” said Mandala. “He is a major addition to our Company, and his appointment marks the first major step in building a team that will communicate the value of El Rey to advertisers looking to reach a young adult audience hungry for the cutting-edge programming for which Robert Rodriguez is known.”
“We are pleased to welcome Michael to the El Rey team,” said Scott Sassa, vice chairman, El Rey Network. “His experience in the cable and digital space will be invaluable as we gear up to create forward thinking programs that use TV, digital and mobile to better serve our marketing partners.”
Finn joins El Rey from BrightLine Partners, a company which provides innovative and customized interactive advertising experiences for blue chip clients on TV, gaming, and second screen platforms. In his role as president of BrightLine, he developed highly productive and direct relationships with clients who are looking to extend their TV spend into platforms that allow viewers to interact with their branded content. He began his media career at MTV Networks, progressing from an entry level role to the national sales director and leading the sales efforts for the launch of two new networks, VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul. After eleven years at MTVN, he left Viacom for DISH Network, where, as vice president of Media Sales, he created an advertising sales business from the ground up.
