Edward James Olmos Directs “The Devil Has a Name”

Academy Award nominees Edward James Olmos (for Stand and Deliver) and David Strathairn (for Good Night and Good luck) will be starring in The Devil Has a Name with Olmos also taking the helm as the film’s director. Alfred Molina, Kate Bosworth and Alfred Molina, have also been announced as part the cast. 

The Devil Has a Name, a dark comedy, written by Robert McEveety, is based on true events is currently shooting in L.A. with Olmos playing Santiago, a Mexican immigrant and confidant, while Stratharin plays the oil-empire fighting farmer.

Olmos first directorial was American Me in 1992, with several other projects including HBO’s Walkout. He is an international star who has a immense fan base from his roles in the TV cult series Battlestar Galactica, and his role as Gaff in Bade Runner, as sell as Selena Quintanilla’s father in Selena.

The film is financed and produced by True Navigator Media’s Steve McEveety, Patrick Hibler, and McEveety. Storyboard Media is handling worldwide sales.


Olmos is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
