2nd Season Premiere of Supernatural Crime Saga – Tuesday, August 25 at 9PM on El Rey Network
From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series’ first season finale left off with the Gecko brothers each going their separate ways. Richie Gecko (Zane Holts) and Santanico Pandemonium (Eiza Gonzalez) heading north, hand in hand to “los Estados Unidos”, while Seth (D.J. Cotrona) and Kate (Madison Davenport) decide to keep each other company after each “losing” their families. As for Ranger Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia), rides off on his motorcycle into the sunlight.
Called “radically different” and “a fascinating ride” by The Associated Press, season one of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series centered on bank robber Seth Gecko and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko.
Robert Rodriguez, El Rey Network’s founder and chairman and creator of the 1995 cult-classic film of the same name, directs the season two premiere and finale; additional directors include showrunner Carlos Coto, Eduardo Sanchez, Alejandro Brugués, Joe Menendez, and Dwight Little.

“The first season of Dusk reimagined the original film to allow us to expand our story and characters for future seasons,” says Rodriguez. “I’m excited for fans to now experience this completely new story arc where they will learn more about the Dusk universe and their favorite characters within this dark, dangerous, crime world with a supernatural edge.”
What little details we know about season two is the show will extend beyond the Titty Twister and into the United States. The series follows Santánico and Richie who will be traveling between Mexico and Texas. They set up “shop” outside Houston doing their best Bonnie and Clyde impersonation. Meanwhile Seth and Kate are up to their own mischief south of the Border; while and Ranger Freddie Gonzalez is busy protecting his wife and young daughter. Villian Carlos Madrigal played by Wilmer Valderrama and Scott Fuller (Brandon Soo Hoo) who at the end of season two were trapped in the underground maze of the Titty Twister, emerge changed men. They will all come together once again – for the next face off against an even bigger threat.
In addition to the returning cast, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series adds two new characters, Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills) as “The Regulator” and Esai Morales (The Brink) as Lord Amancio Malvado, and as the name implies in Spanish, this will be one evil man. When director Rodriguez invited his frequent collaborator Trejo and Morales to join the cast, he invited them to “play” and play they did with the rest of the cast. And we get to see it all in season two in the 10 all-new, action-packed hour-long episodes.
Last month we sat down with four of the actors in Dusk, Gonzalez and Holts whose characters team up to become the new night dweller team; Cotrona, whose character finds himself teamed up new partner in crime Kate; and Garcia at the Television Critics Association press tour. While there was little details they could divulge about the upcoming second season, which premieres Tuesday, August 25th at 9pm ET on the El Rey Network, we did get an insight into what we can expect as a whole.
“You are really going to be able to see the depth of every character in the second season,” Eiza Gonzalez tells us. “This second season is so much bigger. It does definitely has the vibe of the first season, but unlike the first season that takes all took place in one day, paying homage to the film, in season two we are out into the real world.”
In the upcoming season of Dusk, we are told, we will see the characters interacting in different circumstance with the outside world. “Vampira” Santanico has been able to break out of the Titty Twister and is now ready to interaction with the outside world, as she and Richie continue their ties to the supernatural world. The characters’ morals (twisted as they are) and values will be tested in the upcoming circumstances.
For Ranger Freddie Gonzalez, season two will delve back into his relationship with Earl McGraw who died by Richie’s hand.
But as a signature Robert Rodriguez project, you can always expect the unexpected. “Robert and and Carlos (Coto) push further than anybody else,” was Holts’ answer when asked what we can expect in season two. “You get heighten dialogue, you get heighten action — the boundaries are always pushed.” Adding, “We even get surprised when we show up and read the new episodes, our characters get pushed further than we necessarily thought our characters could or would go.
