We knew it was only a matter of time when we would see comedienne actress Cristela Alonzo back in a TV series. In a mater of about a year and a half since Alonzo’s self title sitcom was cancelled, she has managed to land another starring role, this time on ABC pilot The Gospel of Kevin. Starring alongside Jason Ritter in his hour long pilot, Alonzo plays Yvette, a tough-talking, but compassionate “warrior for God”.
The Gospel of Kevin co-creators are Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who will serve as writers and executive producers on the pilot ordered ABC Studios.
After her ABC sitcom Cristela was cancelled after one season, the comedienne has kept busy and visible. She re-ignited her comedy tours while making TV appearances on Conan, Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, and filling in as guest co-host on The View. Currently she has her own comedy special, Lower Classy, airing on Netflix.”
