Counterpunch Screens Tonight at the Downtown Film Festival L.A.!

The Latino presence at the Downtown Film Festival L.A. continues tonight with Kenneth Castillo’s Conterpunch which screens at 7:00PM at the Downtown Independent. Join the cast and crew for an after-screening party at City of Angles Boxing.

Counterpunch is based on a true story, young boxer Emilio is from the wrong side of the tracks with big dreams of winning the Golden Gloves boxing championship. But his struggle with his inner demons (and mental illness) put himself at a crossroads. As he fights his way back into the winning circle with the help of a new love in his life, he gets a second shot at the championship title. As he is toe to toe in the ring with his formidable competitor, he’ll throw all the punches to be the last man standing. (96 Minutes)  Alvaro Orlando gives a bravura performance as a young boxer who must first defeat his inner demons before becoming the champion he’s determined to be.

The award-winning Downtown Film Festival L.A., now in its 5th year, opened on July 10 and will run til 20th.  For the remaining listing of films www.dffla.com.
