Carlos Morton’s “Buffalo Brown” Play at Company of Angels

BrownBuffaloCoA

Company of Angels will present a workshop production of Brown Buffalo written by Carlos Montes and to be directed by Guillermo Aviles-Rodriguez.

Brown Buffalo is an unapologetic historical adaptation based on the life and times of Oscar “Zeta” Acosta, a controversial figure in Chicana/o letters, who mysteriously disappeared in 1974. Acosta, the self-proclaimed Brown Buffalo, leaves the Inframundo (Aztec Underworld) on a quest to find himself. His search propels him to interact with the people closest to him while alive; his ex-wife, son and chief antagonist, Hunter S. Thompson who immortalized Acosta as the “Samoan Attorney” in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
