Chiapas Television Station’s Mucho Corazón Transcends Borders and Earns High Praise from Mexican Media Outlets

Beginning Friday, February 8 at 1am ET/Thursday, February 7 at 10pm PT, Canal 22 Internacional presents Mucho corazón, where love flourishes, and continues to air the series on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 1am ET/10pm PT. Delving into the origin of the Chiapanecan people, the series reveals the hidden secrets and inspiring story of Maruch, a young indigenous girl wanting to get ahead and improve her living conditions.
On Wednesday and Friday nights at 1:30am ET/ Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30pm PT, Canal 22 Internacional will airChiapas Profundo – Deep Chiapas helping viewers to discover the natural beauty, cities, towns, and traditions of the state of Chiapas. This broadcast takes audiences to such Chiapas landmarks as the Arc of Time, the Parrot’s Abyss, the Chorreadero, and the Chiconal volcano.
On Thursday nights at 1:30am ET/Wednesday nights at 10:30pm PT, Piedras en honor del tiempo (Stones in honor of time) tours Chiapas’ archaeological ruins of Bonamnak and Tonina. Bonampak’s discovery, one of the great achievements in the history of the archaeological exploration of Chiapas, allows viewers to discover the Mayan culture through the amazing natural surroundings in which they lived. One of the most impressive, complex and beautiful places to be found in the Northern American Hemisphere, Bonamnak is nestled so deep in the heart of the Lacandona Jungle only its Gran Plaza and Acropolis have been explored. The holy site of Tonina, in the mountains of Chiapas, boasts pyramid structures that tower over the summit of a tree covered mountain range on the northern side of the Ocosingo valley. Over 1,000 years of construction activity created a labyrinth of different eras, temples, palaces and stairways.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in February, at 9pm ET/6pm PT, viewers will be enthralled by Chiapas’ thousand-year old recipes, dating back to traditional pre-Hispanic cuisine in Sabores de Chiapas (The Flavors of Chiapas). The series includes tours to the state’s pueblos to discover the wide array of flavors featured in Chiapaneca food, the result of blending indigenous and Spanish cultures, and includes the area’s most traditional dishes, including pan compuesto, café soconusco, pepita con tasajo and pozol.
Weekdays at 7pm ET/4pm PT, documentary series Chiapas nuestro (Our Chiapas) looks at the history, traditions, customs, and representative characters of towns throughout Chiapas, pointing out all of the natural history and archaeological wealth this beautiful Mexican state has to offer.
Any celebration of Chiapas would be incomplete without addressing its music. On Sundays, at 9pm ET/6pm PT, Música y escena: Con el son de la marimba (Music and setting: to the beat of the marimba) revives the dance made popular in Chiapas’ Marimba Park in Tuxtla Gutierrez. The music is turned on and the party starts — a tradition that is kept alive and beating in every corner of the state.
