NHMC is happy to announce it will be holding the 6th Annual Latino Scene Showcase in October 2018. The showcase will give writers and actors the chance to showcase their work to an audience of agents, managers, and network executives invited by NHMC.
The Latino Scene Showcase is a private event for entertainment industry executives, talent representatives, and casting directors to watch the performance of original scripts written, directed and performed by graduates of the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Latino TV Writers Program and Latino talent recruited by the Los Angeles Theatre Center.
The showcase presented jointly by NHMC and LATC at El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles, presents a program of short scenes, directed, written and performed by Latinos, to introduce their talent to Hollywood directors, writers, talent representatives and casting directors. More than 200 entertainment industry insiders attend to network with participating Latino creatives after the showcase.
Scene Guidelines:
Running time of the scene is a max of 7 minutes.
Showcase scene should be written for preferably two, with a maximum of three characters.
Showcase scene can be comedic or dramatic.
Scenes must have a beginning, middle, and end.
The scene will be acted out on a stage, you will have access to limited props i.e. chairs, tables. Please plan accordingly.
Selection Process: All are invited to submit a bio, resume and up to two original 5-7 minute comedy or drama scenes with no more than three characters by May 4. The scenes will be judged and the final 6 will be selected and notified by May 18.
Editing Process: Writers meet two times a week over a three week period in May/June to edit and finalize scenes.
Showcase Process: Jose Luis Valenzuela, Artistic Director of LATC will then oversee the casting and directing process. There will be several rehearsals which include the actors and writers. The scenes will be performed at El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood during the month of October 2018 to an audience made up of agents, managers, and network executives.
