Michael Pena is on a hot streak as he has just been cast in the leading role of the mysterious Mr. Roark in the Sony and Blumhouse big screen adaptation of the classic television series Fantasy Island (1977-1984) that starred Ricardo Montalban. Pena will be seen this December co-starring opposite Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper in The Mule, about a financially desperate senior citizen who becomes a drug mule for the Sinaloa Cartel. Eastwood also directed the crime thriller which also co-stars Andy Garcia and is produced by Kristina Rivera of Imperial Entertainment.
The Chicago born Pena also plays a key dramatic role as true life murdered US agent Kiki Camarena in the forthcoming fourth season of Netflix’s Narcos, filmed on location in Mexico City.
James Cameron’s long awaited Cyber action adventure, Alita: Battle Angel has been postponed from its Christmas opening to February 14, 2019. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and set several centuries in the future, Alita (Rosa Salazar) is based on a Japanese Manga with a mix of CGI and live characters. The $200 million dollar film was written and produced by Cameron and co-produced by David Valdes to create a ground breaking Latina superhero.
